What a wonderful Founders’ Day we had at Willow Brook Primary!
We were overwhelmed with the generosity and thoughtfulness of our community who demonstrated their big-heartedness by donating food for the local food bank, cakes for the bake sale raising charity money and by our pupils making a change in the local environment with a litter-pick.
We also saw our Art Ambassadors demonstrating powerful leadership skills by running the print workshop for parents. (They also curated the current art exhibition in our hub Gallery!)
It was a pleasure to host a PTA coffee morning, and thanks to those many who attended.
Founders’ Day was a wonderful opportunity to share a communal lunch, reflect on what it is that makes us Griffins Great!, and have special lessons themed on skills for life, Eco-Awareness, all the while having fun and being creative!
We were privileged to have members of the GST team including Jennifer Bray, MBE, to attend out celebrations. An Oxford graduate in geography, Jennifer’s first career was as a university lecturer working in the UK, West Africa and East Asia and specialising in economic development. She is a qualified teacher and spent twenty years as Principal of two large British international schools, in Hong Kong and then in Belgium. Jennifer currently works as a leadership consultant to British Schools Overseas, specialising in start-up schools and those in areas facing major economic and political challenges. An Ofsted inspector and school governor, she is also a member of the Board of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and an Accreditation Leader for the Council of International Schools (CIS). She is a founding member and Chair of the Griffin Schools Trust.
